SACHA INCHI OIL

Sacha Inchi oil was awarded the gold medal for excellent organoleptic qualities at the World Edible Oils competition in Paris, in 2004. Sacha Inchi oil is valued as a nutritional supplement because it contains a high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, making it an excellent source for Omega 3 (alpha linolenic acid) and Omega 6 (linoleic acid). It contains no cholesterol.

WHAT IS OMEGA 3 FATTY ACID ( 什么是 Ω−3脂肪酸?)


Omega-3 fatty acids — also called ω-3 fatty acids or n-3 fatty acids — are polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) with a double bond (C=C) at the third carbon atom from the end of the carbon chain. The fatty acids have two ends, the carboxylic acid (-COOH) end, which is considered the beginning of the chain, thus "alpha", and the methyl (CH3) end, which is considered the "tail" of the chain, thus "omega". The way in which a fatty acid is named is determined by the location of the first double bond, counted from the methyl end, that is, the omega (ω-) or the n- end. 

The three types of omega-3 fatty acids involved in human physiology are α-linolenic acid (ALA) (found in plant oils), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (both commonly found in marine oils). Marine algae and phytoplankton are primary sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Common sources of plant oils containing the omega-3 ALA fatty acid include walnut, edible seeds, clary sage seed oil, algal oil, flaxseed oil, Sacha Inchi oil, Echium oil, and hemp oil, while sources of animal omega-3 EPA and DHA fatty acids include fish oils, egg oil, squid oils, and krill oil. Dietary supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids does not appear to affect the risk of death, cancer or heart disease. Furthermore, fish oil supplement studies have failed to support claims of preventing heart attacks or strokes. 

Omega-3 fatty acids are important for normal metabolism. Mammals are unable to synthesize omega-3 fatty acids, but can obtain the shorter-chain omega-3 fatty acid ALA (18 carbons and 3 double bonds) through diet and use it to form the more important long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, EPA (20 carbons and 5 double bonds) and then from EPA, the most crucial, DHA (22 carbons and 6 double bonds). The ability to make the longer-chain omega-3 fatty acids from ALA may be impaired in aging. In foods exposed to air, unsaturated fatty acids are vulnerable to oxidation and rancidity. 

ω−3脂肪酸(Omega-3 fatty acids)又称n−3脂肪酸,是一类不饱和脂肪酸。是指一类脂肪酸,最重要的3种为:ALA(存在于植物中的油),EPA和DHA(这二种发现存在于海洋动植物油中)。从脂肪酸分子中距离羧基最远的甲基端(称为ω端)的碳原子计数,这一类分子的第三个碳原子与第四个碳原子之间为双键(即第三根键为双键),因此称为ω−3脂肪酸。含有较多ω−3脂肪酸的包括:鱼油、海藻油、鸡蛋黄油、鱿鱼油、磷虾油、沙棘果油, 亚麻籽油、车前叶蓝蓟油、南美印加果油、大麻籽油等。 重要的ω−3必需脂肪酸包括α-亚麻酸、二十碳五烯酸、二十二碳六烯酸,这三者均为多不饱和脂肪酸。人体内无法从头合成ω−3脂肪酸,但可以使用十八碳的ω−3脂肪酸即α-亚麻酸(ALA)作为原料,通过人体内的酶延长碳链,合成二十碳的不饱和ω−3脂肪酸(即EPA),再由EPA合成二十二碳的不饱和ω−3脂肪酸(即DHA)。上述反应与ω-6脂肪酸的合成反应互为竞争反应,后者是从亚油酸衍生出的脂肪酸。ω−3与ω−6脂肪酸均为必须从食物中获取的必需营养素。随着人年龄的增长,体内由ALA合成DHA的能力随之减退。因此,老年人可能存在DHA缺乏。 

Omega-3能降低血液中的LDL"不良"胆固醇和甘油三酸酯量,同时提升HDL"良性"胆固醇量。它也能令血管变得更畅通无阻、更健康及更有弹性,同时还能减少挤满胆固醇的血小扳,并防治能阻塞血管的凝快之形成。这将回大幅度地减低心脏病发作或中风地风险。Omega-3具有消炎作用,能减轻肿痛,舒解关节炎的不适感觉。临床研究证实能减轻晨间的僵硬不适,关节比较不会一碰就痛或肿痛,还能减轻疲劳。临床研究显示,Omega-3能帮助抑制导致疼痛和发炎的"不良"前列腺素之分泌。它也能减少血液的粘度,以促进脑部的血液循环。这将会减少偏头痛的发作次数,亦能减低其严重程度和待续时间。Omega-3是美国头痛基金会所推荐的营养补给品。 Omega-3能令皮肤均衡保湿及保持健康。它能强化围绕于每一个细胞周围的纤柔细胞膜,使细胞获得充足滋养,同时能有效地把细胞内的废物予以排除。它能使真皮层分泌出更强力的胶原和弹性纤维,帮助消除皱纹和细纹,并挺实渐呈松弛的皮肤。因缺乏Omega-3而引致的常见皮肤问题包括皮肤粗糙、密集的污斑、脚跟龟裂、湿疹、牛皮癣、粉刺、黑头及白头。 糖尿病患者通常具有较高的甘油三酸酯及较低的高浓度脂蛋白含量,而omega-3可以帮助降低甘油三酸酯及脱辅基蛋白——引发糖尿病的"元凶"——的含量,同时提高高浓度脂蛋白含量。 


WHAT IS UNSATURATED FATTY ACID (不饱和脂肪)


An unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acid in which there is at least one double bond within the fatty acid chain. 

A fatty acid chain is monounsaturated if it contains one double bond, and polyunsaturated if it contains more than one double bond. 

Where double bonds are formed, hydrogen atoms are subtracted from the carbon chain. Thus, a saturated fat has no double bonds, has the maximum number of hydrogens bonded to the carbons, and therefore is "saturated" with hydrogen atoms. In cellular metabolism, unsaturated fat molecules contain somewhat less energy (i.e., fewer calories) than an equivalent amount of saturated fat. The greater the degree of unsaturation in a fatty acid (i.e., the more double bonds in the fatty acid) the more vulnerable it is to lipid peroxidation (rancidity). Antioxidants can protect unsaturated fat from lipid peroxidation. 

不饱和脂肪是指至少含有一个双键的脂肪或脂肪酸链。如果只有一个双键,则称为单元不饱和脂肪;含有两个双键以上的则称为多元不饱和脂肪。当双键形成时,一对氢原子会被消除,因而与碳原子相结合的氢原子未达到最大值,即"不饱和"。在细胞的新陈代谢中,不饱和脂肪所产生的能量相比饱和脂肪较少。脂肪的不饱和程度越高(双键数量越多),其过氧化的可能性越高,从而越容易对人体健康不利。这时需要抗氧化物来防止这一情况的发生。
